trinidad

before trinidad we went up to melbourne in florida to stay with ym aunty and uncle, it was sooo good to see them. I hadn't seen them in 7years and they were exactly the same, still fun and loving and happy.
Then we had a horrific journey up to newark and almost missed the flight to trinidad due to flights being cancelled and planes being delayed then having to fly into new york and getting a $100 taxi to newark. In the end we made our flight, but our suitcases didn't. But unlike celia i really didn't care because after 20years i was in trinidad and finally got to meet my brothers!

I'm here and i love it and today I've already eaten 3 mangoes! the food is amazing. I am getting on really well with my brothers, I've met cousins and uncles and partied and relaxed. i am rushing through updating because i realised I hadn't written on this in ages but that's the short of chicago - trinidad so far!!!

I'm sad i have under a month left but am already planning my next trips (miami and new york and australia for 4 months and thailand) after i've graduated...! we're also planning our last 3nights in new york and a lot of our goucher friends are coming to party iwth us so i'm excited!

I hope all is good back home.
see you all in under a month! xx

new orleans and miami

the most amazing music. the house of blues is possibly one of my favourite places. The fireworks on the 4th of July were amazing. New York, New Orleans and Miami are hands down my favourite places in America (that i've seen so far). We stayed in a really fun hostel that had a pool and met a lot of really cool people. Celia tried all the food( i couldn't bring myself to stop being veggie to try it but i bought a cook book so i'm going to make it all vegetarian for myself soon). The partied on bourbon street and Frenchman's street and heard amazing music every night. The french market was amazing and atmosphere everywhere was so great. Everywhere we walked there were people playing music or singing or dancing. It is my idea of heaven!

miami.... our hostel was known for the parties and the drinking. best and craziest time ever. we shared our room with 2 of the best girls ever and we got on so well. we're all still in contact and going back next year together...with more people too! our hostel was 2blocks from the beach so we spent our days there then nights pre drinking the going out. first night there was a stretched hummer to the club then 2free drinks on entry. second night $5 club entry to one of the best in the world then free vodka, the third there was a keg in the hostel then we all went to a really fun bar...it was so much fun! We met some of the people we'd met in new orleans there too. they arrived our last night so that was really cool to see them...i love miami!

chicago, la, san fran, orange county and l.a again

so we arrived in chicago with ridiculous hangovers and passed out. but not before we saw the chicago blackhawks win! which means we got to see the parade on friday which was insane, the weather was hot and humid and the streets were full of people in jerseys. We got to go to our first beach in ages so that was fun and eddie mills (one of josh's friends and well my firends too) was still in Chicago (having been studying there all year) so we met up and ate the biggest burgers ever! We also saw england vs america which was just embarrassing! There were 10 of us english folk and a bar full of Americans. in the first ten minutes we were laughing but afte rthe own goal we were hanging our heads in shame and just drank our 50cent beers! Our last night we went out with a friend of a friend. A dj on the same label as our friend cassey and so were in a fancy club drinking free fancy vodka, reminded me of london nights out! it was really fun and at 5am we all went and got the best food ever! pizza!

l.a we arrived at my friend dustin's apartment to find that he had a jacuzzi on the roof, gym in the basement and a home cinema too so we were living the life! I got some really sad news whilst we were there though and as much a is like L.A having to drive everywhere and there not being a park or anywhere i could go to clear my head and decide whether or not to come back for the funeral i spent 3hours a day minimum running in the gym. which helped but it wasn't the best.
We were in downtown by the staples centre so were really close when the lakers won and saw the craaazzzyyy jumping and celebrating people. We partied in hollywood and went to venice beach and longbeach and saw all the sights but L.A is definitely not one of my favourite places..

San Fran. 8hour coach ride there. 8hour ride back. i hate greyhound and have never had such a horrible hungover journey there..i didn't drink on the way back tohugh i feared for my liver and throwing up! We had the most amazing time. i took the best ever dance classes and got to see my friend hillary from Goucher. We rode over the Golden Gate Bridge and to sausalito which is beautiful and where i did the most ridiculous fall! i was going downhill and ridiculously quickly and for some reaosn a car was on my side of the road coming towards me (i was on the right side of the road) and so i freaked and the breaks didn't work quickly enough so i tohugh it was a good idea to slam them both on and put my feet down. it worked but i kind of half ran/ half flew and cut up my hand. but the bike was fine as was i (and i was wearing a helmet) i just had a stupid hand for a while! apart form that it was sooo much fun and we had so many fun nights out and saw all the sights and i love it there so much i'm definitely going back..

orange county. i had the most amazing time with sarah (friend from middlesex last year) we went to the beach, ate great food. went to loads of bars. got a lot of free jaegger bombs from some marines and heard really good music! definately loved it there too. oh and i took a boogie box class there that was really good and got contact details of a lady who has a contemporary company so that was pretty cool...

back to the gym in l.a and we met up with some people we'd met in san fran. it was fun to just relax and run again before new orleans and miami...

Boston is fun!

so we arrived at our hostel and finally washed clothes which was amazing then met a really nice Dutch girl who was staying in our room and we went out. What we didn't know is that they only take passports of you're foreign but we eventually got in to a bar restaurant with live music: dick's last resort. The theme is that the waiters are dicks so rude to you etc it was really funny!

So here we've been to harvard, gone on the freedom trail and seen where the revolution things happened I. Different places, saw cheers and went to Quincy market. We also hung out in cambridge and the beautiful park here when our friend from goucher came to visit. On the second day we net an Irish girl who's been studying for the year in dc and she's fun so she came around with us Andre net her dj friend and drank on his roof which has the most amazing view!

This is turning into sight seeing by day and an alcohol tour by night! The first night with kerri we went to a blues and jazz bar, a hidden away place with amazing music and the bartender gave us free drinks all night. Then last night we were going to go to a hostel organized place but ended up drinking in the aparmentd here with the powple that work here andorher guests... Was really fun and met some cool people. Now off to Chicago where there's a jazz and blues festival, so excited!

Oh and predictive text is american hence some of the spelling! Hope all is good :-$

Boston bound

We're on the bus to Boston having had a crazy11days in new York. It has to be said that my iPod touch I'd a god send, helping me navigate to different dance studios etc. I workshopped dances with a choreographer in Brooklyn, tool salsa class, a modern class and a ballet class. I also DOD the best work out class ever called boogie box. It burns 1,100 calories per hour and i's not yet in the I'm so I may get certified in it in California and bring it back!
We've seen all the sights and been tourists and I have fallen in love with new York and am definately moving after I graduate! We've hadsome crazy nights out too Thursday especially: our friend from Australia randomly bumped into guys he went to school with, one of whom is a promoter for clubs so we had a free night out at a high end new York club. Gooood times! Aside from the clubbing and tourist things we hung out in central park a lot which was lovely and AMA was here which was even better:-) I've just finalied all our hostels and buses and who we're staying with when so am looking forward to boston! When I get to a computer I will finally upload pictures. Hope everryone's well and you're enjoying the sun x x

phili is fun!

After graduation at Goucher last Friday and a celebratory meal with our graduating friends, Celia and I set off for Philadelphia. We weren't off to a great start because the bus was over two and a half hours late. But we met someone who's just moved back from London to Phili and was having a party the next night so that was cool.
We arrived at our hostel on free beer and open mic night. It was in the heart of the old town and surrounded by bars, clubs and restaurants. so we went out the first night and had loads of cocktails! we were only there for the weekend so went sight seeing in the day then the next night went out with people from the hostel, including an Australian guy who's been travelling for a while and gave us details of great places to stay in Miami and New Orleans. He's also in new york soon and then boston and at the same hostel as us (hi hostels are the fun ones here that are for young people and have free beer and entertainment nights on a lot. We went out to a bar then to the house party (that was being shut down by the police when we arrived so we dodged that bullet!)
It's been so weird here having bars and clubs shut at 2am!
Niagara falls was beautiful. The trip however was ridiculous. The tour guides barely spoke English and we were on that coach for over 20hours over the two day trip and it became very expensive so we were not impressed, but we stayed with our friend alex for a night in upstate new york which was so fun and needed! Home comforts after that annoying and time wasting trip were the best thing ever!

Now we're in New York and I met up with Ama yesterday, it was sooo goood to see her.
i love New York and will write more about it from Boston!
I hope all is well everyone
